We are working on a national initiative in the spirit of the historic Works Progress Administration that we call WPA 2.0. The WPA of the 1930s commissioned artists to photograph, sketch and film the faces and stories of America during the New Deal. WPA 2.0 expands on the concept by embracing contemporary trends in user-generated media, social networking, and volunteerism. We believe that WPA 2.0 will be an evolving coalition uniting the artistic, academic, and citizen creator communities in documenting, celebrating and sharing the projects emerging from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
We are planning an official public launch for WPA 2.0 in Summer 2009. If you are interested in joining the initiative or in hearing more about it, please visit our developmental social network here or email us to find out more about our projects, or if you're interested in working with us.
